Does my blog count as something interesting to design?
I think you should get some sort of retractable pully and hook it to the ceiling. Then you could pull the hook down to connect it to the bike and then it goes back up to be out of the way (but you can still reach the tire to bring it back down. That's all I have for your bike problem. The rest I can't help with.
